kfz-abmeldedienst.de is a private company that charges money to file your deregistration for you. Your registration office decides on your deregistration, not us.
The check costs nothing and you reveal nothing during it.
What we are allowed to do, and why
For a deregistration, identification of the applicant is waived as soon as the security codes are entered. That is § 24 paragraph 4 FZV. The portal retrieves the keeper data itself from the central vehicle register.
And § 16 paragraph 1 FZV says that anyone who presents all the required documents is deemed authorised by the keeper. That is why we do not need a signed power of attorney from you.
This applies to deregistration only. Registering, re-registering and transferring a keeper require secure identification of the keeper under § 20 FZV. We cannot do that for you and therefore do not offer it.

You can also do it yourself
Anyone with an activated online ID function and its PIN, plus a card reader or an NFC smartphone, can deregister through their registration office’s portal and then only pays the official fee.
This note costs us customers and is here precisely for that reason. Without it our honesty would be a slogan.
